Cobra-691S

Single-pass HP PageWide printer with a 60 cm friction feeder

Up to 40 m per minute

— print straight onto corrugated boxes, pizza boxes, bags, envelopes and cups, up to 250 mm (9.84 in.) thick.

The Cobra-691S puts HP PageWide bubble-jet heads over a vacuum conveyor with an integrated friction feeder and adjustable receiving tray, so you can print full-colour branding, lot codes and short-run designs directly on finished packaging instead of ordering pre-printed stock.

HP PageWide

One or two print heads

Each HP PageWide head carries 42,240 nozzles and prints a 210 mm (8.26 in.) swath. Add the second head for a 420 mm (16.53 in.) print width.

Single Pass

10 to 40 metres per minute

Media runs under the fixed heads once, at up to 40 m/min, with resolutions from 1200 × 300 to 1200 × 1200 dpi driven by a 1200 dpi real-time encoder.

Cantilever Design

Oversized boxes, no tools

Standard feed width is 600 mm (23.6 in.). Remove the side media fender and the open, cantilevered frame takes loads up to 1200 mm (47.2 in.) wide.

Head Protection

Built for corrugated

Adjustable pressure plates and a carriage anti-scratch kit protect the heads from warped board, while electronic height control handles stock up to 250 mm thick.

What the Cobra-691S prints on

Aqueous dye or pigment ink straight onto absorbent packaging and paper stock, from flat envelopes to finished boxes up to 250 mm tall.

A four-step workflow

From a stack of blanks to printed packaging in a single pass, run from one touch screen.

Load the feeder

Stack blanks, bags or envelopes in the friction feeder. The laser guideline system (4 to 6 lines) sets your margins.

Set the height

Raise or lower the print carriage from the touch screen to match the stock, up to 250 mm (9.84 in.).

Print in one pass

The vacuum conveyor carries each piece under the PageWide heads at 10 to 40 m/min. The built-in control and RIP software runs the job.

Collect and pack

Finished pieces land on the adjustable receiving tray, ready to fold, fill or ship.

Frequently asked questions

Should I order one print head or two?

One head prints a 210 mm (8.26 in.) wide band, which covers most logos, labels and codes on box panels. Two heads double that to 420 mm (16.53 in.) for larger artwork. Tell us what you print and we will recommend a configuration.

How big a box can it print on?

Pieces up to 250 mm (9.84 in.) thick and 600 mm (23.6 in.) wide feed as standard. Remove the side media fender and the cantilevered frame accepts loads up to 1200 mm (47.2 in.) wide. Length is not limited.

What ink does it use?

Aqueous dye or pigment ink in CMYK, from 500 ml refillable tanks with ink-shortage alarms. Aqueous ink suits absorbent stock such as corrugated board, kraft bags and paper.

What power does it need?

The spec sheet lists a 20 A single-phase 220 V supply. Confirm your site power with us before delivery and we will make sure the installation matches.

What computer does it need?

A Windows 7 or 10 (64-bit) PC with an Intel Core i5 at 2.5 GHz or better, 8 GB of RAM and 100 GB of working disk space. The control and RIP software is bundled.

Is the feeder and vacuum included?

The 60 cm friction feeder is part of the system. The 420 W media vacuum and the automatic card and paper release sender are optional; ask us to include them in your quote.
