Entry-level manual coil binding machine for classrooms and home offices
The CoilBind S-12 is a compact, manual coil binding machine for low-volume binding. It punches up to 12 sheets per pull with a right-hand handlebar, and coils are twisted through by hand. It uses standard 4:1 pitch plastic coils and binds documents up to 2" thick.

How to bind a document with the S-12

Punch
Square up to 12 sheets against the side guide and pull the right-hand lever.

Choose a coil
Pick a coil about 1/16" (2 mm) larger than the stack thickness. See the size chart below.

Insert by hand
Start the coil in the first two holes and twist it along the spine.

Crimp
Trim the excess and bend both ends with coil crimping pliers (sold separately).

How many sheets can the S-12 punch at once?
Up to 12 sheets of 20 lb bond (80 gsm) paper per pull, across 46 holes. For thicker documents, punch in batches of 12 and bind the whole stack together. The finished book can be up to 2" thick.
Does the CoilBind S-12 have an electric coil inserter?
No. Coils are threaded through by hand. If you bind more than a few documents a week, the CoilBind S-15 adds an electric coil inserter and a free crimper for $50.05 more.
What coils does the S-12 use?
Standard 4:1 pitch plastic spiral coils, from 1/4" to 2" (6 to 50 mm) diameter. The machine ships with a free box of 1/4" (6 mm) coils to get you started.
Do I need a crimper with the S-12?
Yes. Crimping pliers bend the coil ends so the coil cannot spin out of the document. They are not included with the S-12 and are sold separately.
What warranty does the S-12 have?
A 1-year manufacturer defective parts warranty.
What paper sizes can the S-12 bind?
Any document with a binding edge up to 11.8" (300 mm), including letter and A4 along the long edge, and smaller formats such as half-letter.
